I am honestly about to lose my mind trying to figure this out. I just got the Xbox Series X last week because my old console finally died and I thought it would be simple to just plug in some headphones and play but everything sounds so tinny and distant through my TV. I tried using these old earbuds I found in a drawer but they keep cutting out and the cord is way too short to reach my couch. I went to the store here in Grand Rapids yesterday and the guy behind the counter was talking about drivers and hertz and spatial something or other and I just stood there like an idiot because I literally have no idea what any of that means. I just want to be able to hear where people are coming from in games like Halo and Forza without it sounding like I am sitting at the bottom of a swimming pool.

I have about 150 dollars maybe 175 if it is really worth it but honestly I would rather spend less if I can. This is for my living room setup so I am sitting like 8 or 9 feet away from the TV. I see stuff online about Dolby Atmos and DTS and then some headsets say they have their own apps? Why does a pair of headphones need an app?? It feels like I need a degree in sound engineering just to play some video games for an hour after work. And then there are wireless ones but do they lag? I heard wireless is bad for gaming but then I see people using them all the time so I dont know what to believe anymore. Sorry if this is a really basic question but I am just totally overwhelmed by all the choices and I dont want to waste my money on something that isnt going to work right. Which headset actually gives the best audio experience for the Series X if you just want it to sound amazing and not be super complicated to set up?
