What are the best wireless headsets for PS5 and PS5 Pro?

So I managed to snag a PS5 Pro pre-order finally and now I’m looking at my crusty old wired HyperX Cloud IIs and thinking it’s time to actually go wireless. I’ve been using wired setups for years because of the zero latency thing but the cable is driving me nuts lately. My logic was to just grab the Pulse Elite since they’re made by Sony and have those planar drivers, but I keep seeing people complain about the headband snapping or some weird disconnect issues with the 2.4GHz dongle.

I’m stuck between the Audeze Maxwell and maybe the Nova Pro Wireless. I know the Maxwells are basically the gold standard for sound quality right now but I play for like 4 or 5 hours at a time on Friday nights and I heard they’re basically like wearing a lead brick on your head. My budget is around $350 and I’m really looking for something that plays nice with the Tempest 3D audio without sounding thin or tinny.

My main criteria are:

  • solid battery life (20+ hours)
  • breathable ear pads because my place gets hot
  • low latency for competitive shooters

Do we even know if the Pro does anything special with the audio processing yet? I havent seen much info on that. Just wondering if the Sony Link tech is actually worth it over a standard USB dongle from a brand like SteelSeries or Turtle Beach. I need something that wont make my ears sweat like crazy... wondering if anyone has tried both on the new hardware yet.

Like someone mentioned, heat is a total dealbreaker! Grab the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P Wireless Gaming Headset. It's super reliable, saves tons of money, and those fabric pads are amazing for cooling!

I’ve used many headsets over the years and unfortunately, the Sony PlayStation Pulse Elite Planar Magnetic Wireless was a major letdown due to connection drops. It just isn't as reliable as expected. While the Audeze Maxwell Wireless Planar Magnetic Gaming Headset has elite audio, it’s way too heavy for extended sessions. For your 5-hour marathons, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless Multi-System Gaming Headset is a superior choice for comfort and consistent low-latency performance.

I learned the hard way that leatherette pads are a nightmare if your room gets hot. I once had a pair that literally started peeling after months of sweat. Be careful about weight for long sessions too. You might want to consider the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro 2023 Edition Wireless Gaming Headset. The fabric pads actually breathe, the battery is like 70 hours, and it feels way lighter than the Maxwell.
