Which charging dock is actually worth it for the PS5 and the new Pro? Im stuck between the official Sony DualSense station and that Razer Quick Charging Stand. The Sony one is cheaper at like 30 bucks but I only have a tiny bit of space on my TV stand so the vertical Razer one looks better but its more expensive. I gotta get this ordered by tomorrow so it gets here for my weekend gaming marathon lol. I heard some third party ones overcharge the batteries though and I dont want to fry my controllers. Is the official one the safest bet or does the Razer one actually justify the extra cash for the smaller footprint?
Do you really need two docks? I've tried many over the years.
Honestly, I went through this exact same panic when I got my console. If you're really worried about frying your batteries, sticking with the Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station is the safest path. I've had mine for years and it hasn't degraded my controller life at all. Sony designed the dock to talk perfectly with the internal battery controller, so it stops the juice once it hits 100% properly. Tbh, a lot of those random cheap brands on Amazon use cheap chips that just keep pumping power, which is where the "frying" stories come from. The Razer Quick Charging Stand for PS5 is definitely a solid piece of gear tho. It's way better if you're cramped for space because of that vertical design. It uses the same charging pins on the bottom, so it's not like it's inherently dangerous, but you're paying a premium for the aesthetics and the single-controller footprint. If you only ever use one controller at a time, the Razer is fine. But if you have two, the Sony dock is way more practical since it handles both at once for less money. Personally... I'd clear a tiny bit more room for the official one. It's boring but it works every single time without making me worry about a fire hazard or dead cells. Plus, having that second slot ready for your backup controller during a marathon is a lifesaver. You dont want to be halfway through a boss fight and realize your only spare isn't charged because you wanted to save an inch of desk space.

^ This. Also, late to the party but I unfortunately had a bad run with a cheap knockoff that melted my charging port. Not as good as expected at all... kinda terrifying. If you need that vertical space but want safety, try these:
