I'm looking to build a gaming PC with the AMD RX 9070 XT and need advice on the best CPU to pair with it. What are the top recommendations for different budgets? I'm interested in options that provide excellent gaming performance and good value for money. Thanks.

Honestly, building with that card is gonna be an absolute blast. The 9070 XT is a total beast and you really dont want to bottleneck it with a weak chip. I've been running mine with a top-tier CPU and the frame rates are just insane. Here is what I would grab depending on how much cash you have lying around:

  • If you want the absolute king of gaming, get the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz. It is basically the best gaming CPU on the planet right now, no contest.
  • For a solid mid-range choice that wont break the bank, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core 4.7GHz is fantastic value. It keeps up perfectly with that GPU in 1440p.
  • If you do some video editing or work on the side, definitely spring for the Intel Core i7-14700K 20-Core 3.4GHz. Dont overthink it too much tho. Just grab the 7800X3D if you can afford it, you wont regret it one bit!

Honestly, I spent way too much time obsessing over bottlenecks when I first grabbed my rig. Ive tried many combinations over the years, and honestly, the cache size on the chips matters more than raw clock speed once you get into this performance tier. Just yesterday I was testing some heavy ray tracing stuff, and the difference is night and day compared to my old setup. If you want to avoid that headache, I keep coming back to the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 4.2GHz. In my experience, throwing a mid-tier chip at a card like the 9070 XT is just asking for stuttering in 1% lows. You dont want that. If youre on a tighter budget, the Intel Core i5-13600K 14-Core 3.5GHz is a solid workhorse, but you really gotta pair it with fast memory to keep the GPU fed. Dont cheap out on the RAM or youll just be leaving performance on the table, and trust me, you wont want to take this build apart twice.
