Do I really need to buy one of those contact frame things for my new PC build because honestly Im so confused and already spent way too much money on parts. I finally saved up enough for an i7 and a motherboard but now Im seeing all these videos on YouTube saying the Intel chips bend or something if you use the regular latch? It sounds super scary and I dont wanna break a $400 processor before I even turn the computer on for the first time. Im a total beginner and just trying to build this thing for my video editing work and maybe some gaming but every time I think I have everything I need another must have accessory pops up. I looked at the Thermalright one and it seems cheap like maybe $10 but I dont even know how to install it or if it voids my warranty or if the AMD ones do the same thing. My budget is basically zero now since I spent $1500 at the Micro Center in Denver last weekend and I just want to get this done by Friday for a big project I have coming up. Is it actually gonna make a difference or is it just for people who do crazy overclocking stuff because I just want my computer to not melt and the whole thing is just stressing me out now...

Honestly, the results after switching made me super happy. I've tried both of these and they really do help with temps:

  • Thermalright LGA1700-BCF Black
  • Best $10 I've spent. Dropped my i7 temps and keeps the chip flat.
  • Thermal Grizzly Intel 13th/14th Gen Contact Frame
  • Works well too, but it's honestly overkill for most people. Just grab the Thermalright one, it's a life saver.
