I just treated myself to a new tablet and I want to make sure I am taking good care of it from day one. I am mainly using it for a mix of streaming movies and taking notes for work, so I am looking for things that add both protection and functionality. I have already been looking at tempered glass screen protectors and a few folio cases, but I am curious if a stylus or a Bluetooth keyboard is actually worth the extra money for a casual user. Are there any specific brands that offer great quality without breaking the bank? What would you consider the absolute essentials that I should pick up right away to get the most out of my device?
For ur situation, i think a decent case is basically everything. I've been using the <a href=" https://www.amazon.com/s?k=JETech+Case+for+ iPad+Pro+11-inch&linkCode=osi&t=t=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">JETech Case for iPad Pro 11-inch and it's great for streaming. For notes, skip the stylus and just grab a Logitech K380 Multi-Device Bluetooth Keyboard for like $30 - it works so well. Probably don't need the expensive pens yet. Also, a ESR Tempered-Glass Screen Protector is a must for peace of mind lol. Cheers!
> is a stylus or a Bluetooth keyboard actually worth the extra money Curious about one thing: are you handwriting or typing? i basically bought both for my first device... i guess i'd be careful not to overspend on stuff you wont use.
> is a stylus or a Bluetooth keyboard actually worth the extra money Honestly its ridiculous how much these companies expect us to pay for basic gear. Like someone mentioned, you really have to be careful not to overspend because its such a scam nowadays. You buy a tablet and then suddenly youre expected to drop another couple hundred just to make it functional. It drives me crazy. The official pens and keyboards are priced like luxury items when theyre mostly just plastic and magnets. Its honestly disgusting. Quality feels like its going downhill while the price tags keep going up. Its like they dont even care as long as they get that extra margin. Basically the thread has covered the core pillars of a good setup:
Just caught this thread and wanted to chime in because I've spent a lot of time over the years testing different setups. In my experience, you really dont need to drop a fortune on brand-name gear to get a professional feel. For note-taking, I actually bypassed the expensive first-party pens and went with the Zagg Pro Stylus which works brilliantly for way less money. It has been a total game changer for my workflow. If you are doing a lot of streaming tho, I'd suggest looking beyond just a folio case... I've found that a dedicated stand like the Lamicall Tablet Stand Multi-Angle is much more stable for watching movies in bed or at a desk. Also, one thing people usually forget is power. I always keep a Anker 313 Power Bank 10000mAh in my bag because streaming kills the battery faster than youd expect. Getting the basics right early on definitely saves you from buying stuff you wont use later.
@Reply #4 - good point! Honestly, the markups are insane. I tried the fancy first-party stuff a few years back and honestly, it felt like throwing money away. The build quality was just not as good as expected for the price. I eventually switched to the Spigen Rugged Armor Pro Case because it actually survives drops, unlike those flimsy thin cases that crack after a month. Unfortunately, I had issues with cheaper Bluetooth keyboards having major lag, so I bit the bullet and grabbed the Keychron K3 Ultra-slim Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. It lasts forever and feels way better for typing out long notes. My biggest tip? Skip the screen protector if you have a decent case that closes over the glass. Unless you're throwing it in a bag with keys, the extra layer just makes the screen look muddy and kills the touch sensitivity. Keep it simple and buy quality once.
