Upgrading my monitor to pair with the new RX 9070 XT. Looking for something great around $500. What's the absolute best gaming monitor I can get for that price?

Like someone mentioned, those handshake and flickering issues are a massive headache. I actually had some issues with the older firmware on my last display and it was a total nightmare trying to get the 9070 XT to stop blacking out during loading screens. Not as good as I expected for a plug and play setup tbh. If you want to avoid those issues and stay under that $500 mark, you should look at monitors with updated controllers that can actually handle the high bandwidth of newer cards. Here are two that are much more reliable right now:

  • ASUS ROG Strix XG27ACS 1440p 180Hz Gaming Monitor
  • Alienware AW2724DM 27-inch QHD 180Hz Gaming Monitor The Asus is a solid pick because the motion clarity is insane for a mid-range price, and it feels way more premium than the budget Gigabyte stuff. The Alienware is a safer bet tho because their quality control is usually tighter and the colors are way more accurate out of the box. You really want that Fast IPS tech so you dont get that nasty smearing when youre turning fast in-game. Let me know if you need more help looking at the specs for these!

Basically, everyone here has given you some solid options on specific panels and hunting for used deals. But honestly, the technical side of compatibility with a beast like the RX 9070 XT is what usually trips people up. Youre looking at a card that really pushes the limits of display tech. I've seen a lot of guys run into weird handshake issues or flickering when they pair a high-end Radeon card with a budget monitor that has an older scaler. It’s a HUGE pain when your screen drops signal mid-game because of a bandwidth bottleneck between the GPU output and the monitor's ports. My advice? Just go with ASUS or maybe SAMSUNG. They're generally better about keeping there firmware updated for these newer AMD cards. If you get a newer gaming screen from either of those brands, you should be fine. Just make sure it’s a modern one so the DisplayPort or HDMI ports can actually handle the throughput that card is gonna throw at it. 3 or four years ago it didn't matter as much, but with the 9000 series, compatibility and fitment is key!

Dude, forget the hype! I paired my RX 9070 XT with the Gigabyte M27Q-P. Seriously amazing! I've been rocking it for a year – colors pop like crazy, and the 170Hz refresh rate is silky smooth. Total game changer for immersion. You won't regret it!

For that RX 9070 XT, consider a 1440p high refresh rate panel. Look for something with FreeSync Premium Pro. I've been happy with the Gigabyte M27Q-P. It's a VA panel, so great contrast. Does 170Hz. Should work well, no complaints. Have you checked out Rtings.com for their monitor reviews? They're super detailed!

Don't overspend! I'm happy with my Gigabyte M27Q. Often dips below $300. Leaves money for games, right? Works great for me, no complaints!

Check refresh rate certifications. Cheap panels can flicker; long term eye strain isn't worth saving $50.

Instead of buying new, check out used pro-grade monitors! I scored an amazing Dell Ultrasharp for $300, then calibrated it myself with a colorimeter. Fantastic results and saved a ton!

Consider the LG 27GP850-B. Had mine since '21; still happy. Check calibration; mine needed tweaking to meet sRGB standards, but works well now, no complaints.

Check Gigabyte. Often cheaper panels, good value. Read reviews carefully!
