honestly fed up with this setup at this point. i bought this random 4k display last year thinking it would be fine for the xbox series x but the motion blur is actually making me motion sick. every time i hop into a match of apex or halo infinite it feels like im playing through a layer of vaseline like the ghosting is just that bad. i spent way too much on the console to have it look like this and i am ready to just throw this thing out the window.

i need something that actually hits 120hz at 4k without any of that trailing or input lag nonsense. i have about $800 saved up and im located in california so i can pretty much order from anywhere but i need it soon. sick of losing gunfights because some guy with a better screen sees me half a second earlier. i am looking to get this sorted by next weekend before the new season drops.

  • must have hdmi 2.1
  • 27 to 32 inches
  • low response time actually matters here

what is everyone using that doesnt cost a literal mortgage payment but actually performs for high speed shooters? i just want to finally see what 120fps is supposed to look like...

I almost made the same mistake with a cheap brand until I saw the ghosting myself. Be careful with marketing response times... usually theyre totally fake for real-world use. I would suggest checking RTINGS; their motion blur tests are the only ones I trust.

I had that exact same ghosting problem before switching. Settled on the LG 27GP95R-B 27 inch UltraGear 4K UHD 160Hz because it felt like the safest bet for the money. Im really happy with how it performs... it handles 120Hz on the Series X with zero issues. Definitely check for open-box deals locally to save a few hundred bucks. Its totally worth the swap.

Re: "I had that exact same ghosting problem before..." - ylxdgusgvu is right, the LG is a solid pick. I would add the Samsung Odyssey G7 S28AG70 28 inch 4K to your list. Its usually cheaper than the LG and performs nearly identically in motion tests.

  • Quick tip: many people forget that Overdrive settings can actually ruin the image. If you see bright trails instead of dark ones, you have the response time setting too high. Usually the Middle or Normal setting is best.
  • Quick tip: ensure you use the Ultra High Speed cable that came with your Xbox. Generic cables often fail at 4K 120Hz. If it is too short, look for the Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps HDMI Cable. TL;DR: Grab the LG 27GP95R-B 27 inch UltraGear or the Samsung Odyssey G7 S28AG70 28 inch 4K. Both are well within your $800 budget and solve the ghosting issues immediately.
