Ugh, so my new build is finally done and I am honestly kinda terrified to even look at it. I splurged on a 4080 Super because I really wanted to get into 4K gaming, but now that it is actually mounted inside my case, the sag is driving me crazy. It looks like it is tilting down by at least a few millimeters and my anxiety is through the roof that I am gonna snap the PCIe slot or ruin the card eventually. I have been looking at different options for like three days straight now.
I looked at those generic pillar-style support brackets that sit on the bottom of the case, but I am worried they might block the airflow from my bottom intake fans. Then I read about those magnetic ones but honestly, puttin magnets that close to my components just makes me nervous, even if everyone says its fine. I found a few people on Reddit swearing by the ones that screw into the expansion slots, but then I saw a thread where someone said those can actually put stress on the bracket itself and bend the metal backplate? My logic was that a simple prop would be best, but now I am just stuck because everything seems to have a drawback.
I have a budget of maybe 30 bucks, I just want something that looks clean and actually does the job without me having to worry about it every time I boot up. Im in the UK so I need something I can grab off Amazon or a local shop pretty fast. I am really overthinking this, I know, but after spending this much on a GPU I just dont want to mess it up. Does anyone have a specific bracket they actually trust, or am I just being paranoid about the whole airflow thing and should just buy one of those pillars and call it a day...
In my experience, you are definitely overthinking the magnets, but I get the anxiety. I have been using supports for years and the metal backplate thing is mostly user error from overtightening. Before I suggest anything, what case are you using, and do you have fans mounted directly underneath that GPU right now? Knowing the clearance there would make a huge difference in what I recommend.
