Recently upgraded to an RX 7900 XTX and looking to optimize my system with appropriate RAM. Currently running 16GB DDR4-3200, but wondering if I should upgrade to DDR5 or faster DDR4? Budget is around $150. Using my PC primarily for 4K gaming and some video editing. Any recommendations for capacity, speed, and specific models that pair well with this GPU?

Quick thought while im looking at my own rig... what cpu and mobo are you actually rocking? Like the others said, 6000 is the sweet spot but if youre currently on ddr4, you might be looking at a full platform upgrade which changes the budget game. Tbh i had a bit of a nightmare when i first built my current setup with my AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. I was so focused on getting the fastest speeds possible that i didnt realize how picky the memory controller on my specific chip was gonna be. I spent days troubleshooting crashes before realizing i just needed to dial things back a tiny bit for actual stability. High speeds are great and all but nothing ruins a gaming night like a system that wont stay up for more than an hour lol. Just wanna make sure your hardware is ready for the jump before you drop the cash!

I totally agree that 6000MHz is the way to go for this card. Tbh, when I first made the jump to DDR5 for my build, I was SO worried about the stability of everything. Since it's still relatively new tech for me, I was pretty terrified of getting random blue screens or the system just not booting at those higher speeds. One thing I've learned as a bit of a beginner is how CRITICAL it is to check the motherboard compatibility list (QVL) before buying. I spent like three days double-checking everything because I just wanted it to be reliable and not have to deal with troubleshooting. It’s worked out pretty great so far, but I still wonder if I should have been even more careful? Stability over raw speed is basically my top priority when you're dropping that much on a GPU like the 7900 XTX. Has anyone else found that some brands are just way more reliable than others for avoiding crashes?

I'm running G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 with my 7900 XTX and it's been excellent. Modern games love the bandwidth, and that sweet spot of 6000MHz with tight timings gives a nice balance of performance without breaking the bank. Just make sure your motherboard supports these speeds!
