Are there essential cooling accessories to lower GPU temperatures?

Ive been building rigs for like ten years now and never really had issues, but my new 4080 Super is hitting 85C under load and its honestly driving me insane. I already undervolted it a bit and messed with the fan curves in Afterburner, but the temps barely budge. Maybe my airflow is just trash? I live in a pretty small apartment in Phoenix and it gets hot as hell in here during the summer, so I feel like I need something more aggressive. My budget is probably around 100 bucks, give or take, and I need a fix before I start doing some heavy rendering work next week.

Are there actually any worthwhile cooling accessories that help, or is it all just marketing fluff? I have been looking at:

  • Those pcie slot fans that sit right under the gpu
  • Replacing the thermal pads (though I dont want to void my warranty yet)
  • Maybe just getting a way better high-airflow case, but I really dont want to move everything over if I dont have to

Is there anything else I should be looking at to drop these temps by like 5-10 degrees? Im getting sick of the fans sounding like a jet engine while I'm just trying to work...

Man, 85C is brutal! Before you tear anything apart, whats your current case layout and intake fan config? If you're running a restrictive front panel, even the best fans struggle. You should look into these:

  • Corsair ML120 Pro 120mm Magnetic Levitation Fan for better static pressure
  • Undervolting via MSI Afterburner GPU Tweaking Utility is solid, but maybe try a custom curve in the BIOS instead. Changing the case flow is usually the best fix for Phoenix heat tbh.

> PCIe slot fans... just blow hot air around. ^ This. Also, if your room is an oven, maybe consider adding a AC Infinity MULTIFAN S7 Dual 120mm USB Cooling Fan right near the case intake. It helps force way more cool air into the system than internal case fans can alone. Plus, it only costs like 30 bucks. Way better than wasting money on a new case you dont even want to build in.

Honestly, skip the PCIe fans. They just blow hot air around. You might want to grab some high-airflow Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm fans for your intake instead. Cheaper and way quieter.
