im panicking a bit cause my main controller just started drifting and I have a small tournament in NJ in two weeks. I need something for my PS5 that handles competitive play well. I'm torn between the DualSense Edge and the Victrix Pro BFG. My logic was the Edge is safer since its Sony but the Victrix has those modular parts which look sick.

Budget is strictly under $200 so I cant really look at the fancy Scufs. I'm worried the Edge battery is trash but then I hear the Victrix doesnt have rumble? I just need someone to tell me which one is actually gonna last through a weekend of sweaty grinding...

Honestly, the battery life on the Sony DualSense Edge is straight up embarrassing for the price. I had issues with it dying mid-match way too often. If you want something reliable, grab the Victrix Pro BFG Wireless Controller. It lacks rumble, sure, but it is way easier to fix if parts break and it saves you some cash for travel.

Coming back to this, I'd suggest being careful with the Edge if you're specifically trying to avoid drift issues in the future. Even tho you can swap the modules for twenty bucks, you're still using the same tech that failed you. If you want something that'll actually last through a sweaty weekend, you might want to consider the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro Wireless Controller. It has some technical perks that might save you a lot of stress:

  • It uses Hall Effect sensors for the sticks and triggers, meaning no physical parts rubbing together to cause drift.
  • You can swap the stick heads and even add weights to the grips to get the balance just right.
  • The battery life is way more solid, usually getting you around 10 hours easily. Just a heads up, the layout is offset like an Xbox controller, so if your muscle memory is strictly tied to the symmetrical Sony sticks, it might take a few days to adjust. Also, it doesnt support the PS5 native haptics or adaptive triggers, but honestly, most competitive players turn those off anyway to keep their aim consistent.
