Is there actually a definitive winner for thermal paste right now or is it just all marketing hype at this point? Im building a new rig with an i9-14900K and honestly im getting super anxious about thermals because I keep reading horror stories about these chips just cooking themselves if the cooler isnt seated perfectly. I watched a bunch of videos saying Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is the gold standard but then I saw a massive thread on Reddit where people claimed it pumps out after a few months on high-heat CPUs and that I should be using Kingpin KPx instead. My budget is pretty flexible for this part since I already spent a fortune on the GPU but I really dont want to have to take the cooler off again in three months to repaste it because that sounds like a total nightmare. Honestly dont stress too much about the i9-14900k, these chips run hot but you definitely wont fry anything as long as your cooling setup is solid. Liquid metal is cool but its way too risky for a first build and honestly not worth the headache imo. I have used Arctic MX-6 4g Thermal Compound on several high-end builds and it performs basically as well as the super expensive stuff while being way easier to apply. It doesnt pump out like some of those boutique pastes people hype up online. Save your cash for better fans or a good case instead of overpaying for marketing. Just make sure you get a good contact frame for the CPU, that helps way more than fancy paste ever could. Grab a tube of the Arctic MX-6 4g Thermal Compound and call it a day.

If you want a set it and forget it setup, stay away from Kryonaut since it pumps out on hot chips. Honestly, Noctua NT-H2 3.5g is way more reliable for long-term builds. Its thick, easy to apply, and wont degrade nearly as fast as the high-end enthusiast pastes. Keep it simple and you will be fine.
