Hi all, I’m in the process of upgrading my workstation specifically for editing 4K footage in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. My current system with an older 6-core CPU struggles with timeline scrubbing, export times, and real-time effects previews. I plan to use color grading, motion graphics, and multi-cam workflows. I also have 64 GB of RAM and an RTX 3070 GPU. I’m looking for a CPU that balances multi-core performance, thermal efficiency, and stability under sustained loads.
What CPU would you recommend for smooth 4K editing performance?

Just saw this thread and honestly choosing between Intel and AMD right now is kinda stressful. Everyone keeps suggesting the latest flagships but i'd be really careful about the heat and stability issues people have been reporting lately... you definitely dont want your rig crashing during a three hour export in Resolve or Premiere. Quick question tho, what codecs are you mostly using? Like are we talking H.265 from a mirrorless or are you working with RAW files? It makes a big difference for which brand is actually gonna be more reliable for you. Intel usually has that QuickSync edge for playback but their recent power draw and stability stuff is a bit sketchy tbh. Just gotta make sure you dont buy something that runs way too hot for your setup to handle under a sustained 4K load.
