Hey everyone! I am finally upgrading my sim racing rig and I am really struggling to choose the right monitor. I am currently using a flat 27-inch screen, but it just does not feel immersive enough when I am hitting those tight corners in iRacing or Assetto Corsa.

I am specifically looking for something that hits these points:

  • At least a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth motion
  • A 1000R curvature to really wrap around my field of view
  • Ultrawide aspect ratio to see my mirrors better

I am worried about ghosting during high-speed turns. Does anyone have a specific recommendation for a curved monitor that truly changes the game for sim racing?

tbh if you find those massive super-ultrawides a bit too much, you should seriously check out the MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR 34-Inch 165Hz 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor. I have spent way too many hours in Assetto Corsa on this thing and the 1000R curve is basically the sweet spot for immersion. Most people dont realize that 1000R actually matches the natural curvature of the human eye, which helps a lot with eye fatigue during long endurance stints. For sim racing, that tight curve is huge for judging distances to the apex and checking your mirrors. Regarding ghosting, this panel handles motion really well. You get those deep blacks which make night racing look incredible, but without the nasty smearing you find on cheaper VA screens. The 165Hz refresh rate keeps everything crisp when things get chaotic at turn one. Its a massive upgrade over any flat 27-inch setup.

If youre on a budget, Samsung Odyssey G5 34-Inch 165Hz 1000R Ultrawide is a solid value play. It nails that 1000R curve, tho watch for black smearing in those night races.

tbh if you want that true wrap-around feel for iRacing, the Samsung Odyssey G9 49-inch 240Hz 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor is the absolute goat. I switched from a flat setup last year and the 1000R curve literally changes how you judge apexes. Its a bit of an investment but the motion is butter smooth. You wont regret going ultrawide for those mirrors, basically a total game changer for immersion.

Same boat, watching this
