tbh i was in the same boat last year wondering if i should wait for a massive drop. ended up just pulling the trigger and i am so happy i did. it has been incredibly reliable for my daily setup and i havent had a single issue with it. honestly for me the peace of mind was worth it even if the discount wasnt huge. i did notice sometimes places like Costco have better return policies if you are a member there. quick tips:

• definitely think about whether you need the Apple Studio Display Nano-Texture Glass or the standard one because lighting in your room makes a huge difference
• make sure you have enough desk space for the stand you choose since its not adjustable on the base model if you end up getting it you'll probably be as satisfied as i am. it just works every time i plug in my mac.

Just checked -Amazon has the standard Apple Studio Display (standard glass) for $1499, which is $100 off the regular price. Not the biggest discount but better than nothing. This seems to be their Black Friday price starting early.

I am honestly in the exact same boat as you right now. Been refreshing tabs for weeks hoping for some kind of miracle drop, but Apple is always so stingy with these holiday things. I remember doing this a few years back for my home office and basically just ended up staring at a gift card offer that felt like a total letdown... it is exhausting. Like someone mentioned, that small rebate is probably the ceiling. I would suggest being really careful tho before you drop that kind of cash. I tried one out recently and the lack of a high refresh rate really bugged me for that price point. If you aren't totally married to the aluminum look, you might want to consider the Samsung ViewFinity S9 5K. It has the same resolution and color space but I have seen it go for way less than a grand during holiday sales. Or if you dont mind dropping down to 4K to save even more, the Dell UltraSharp U2723QE 27-inch 4K is incredible for color work. Just make sure to check the panel for backlight bleed the second it arrives... I had to return two displays last year before I got a perfect one.
