So I finally saved up enough to get this massive card for my new computer—it is an ASUS something—and it is so heavy. I am honestly scared it is gonna snap my motherboard in half or something lol. I saw these pictures online where the graphics card is standing up sideways instead of plugging straight in and it looks way cooler because you can actually see the fans and the lights. I think they call it vertical mounting?

The thing is I have no idea how it works. Do I need a special case for this or is there a part I can just buy? My budget is maybe 60 bucks because I spent way too much on the actual card and I need to get it set up by Friday before my cousin comes over to help me finish the build. I searched on Amazon but there are so many brands like Cooler Master and Lian Li and some cheap ones I never heard of. I dont even know if they fit every card.

Is there like one kit that everyone thinks is the best for a beginner? I really dont want to break anything or have it not fit my case which is just a standard black box I got. Sorry if this is a really basic thing I just dont want to mess up my first real PC...

In my experience, vertical mounting is honestly the best way to handle GPU sag while making the build look premium. If you are worried about your motherboard, you definitely want something sturdy. Over the years, I have tried many of these kits, and for a standard case, I usually recommend the Cooler Master Universal Vertical GPU Holder Kit V2 PCIe 4.0. It fits your $60 budget and works with most mid-tower cases that have seven PCI slots. The setup is fairly methodical. You replace the expansion slot covers with the bracket itself. One thing to watch for is the cable; the included riser is usually enough, but dont pinch it. If you want to save money, the Phanteks Vertical GPU Bracket with 220mm Riser Cable is a solid, budget-friendly pick. Just check if your case has bars between the PCI slots, as you might need to snip those to plug your monitor in tho.

Honestly, I was in the same boat last month trying to find something that wouldnt break the bank. If youre looking for a budget-friendly way to handle that heavy ASUS card, Im super satisfied with the EZDIY-FAB Vertical PCIe 4.0 GPU Mount Bracket with Multi-Angle. It usually sits right around your $60 budget and the quality is surprisingly decent for the price. I didn't even have to cut the bars on my case to make it fit, which is a huge plus for a first build. Another solid choice is the Antec Vertical GPU Mount Bracket PCIe 4.0 Riser Cable Kit. It works well and is very straightforward to install. Just be careful with the clearance between the card and your side panel so it can still breathe. I ve had mine running for a while now and honestly have no complaints... it holds the weight perfectly fine.

@Reply #1 - good point! I was super worried about my card sag too until I moved to a vertical setup. Im really satisfied with how my build turned out. A couple specs to check:

  • Ensure it is a PCIe 4.0 riser for your card
  • Check for 4-slot bracket support I use the Lian Li Universal 4-Slot Vertical GPU Kit PCIe 4.0 and it works well with zero signal loss. No complaints here, its rock solid.
