so i am building my first real gaming computer and i just saw a video that says my cpu might bend?? its an intel i7 13700k and apparently the latch thing on the motherboard is bad or something i dont know but now im really scared im gonna break a $400 chip. my friend said i need a contact frame to keep it flat and stop the overheating but when i look them up there are different brands and i have no idea what the difference is. i see one from thermalright that is like 10 bucks and then another one from thermal grizzly that costs way more like 40 or 50 dollars i think.

is the expensive one actually better for someone like me who has never done this before? i dont want to mess up the pins on the board because i heard thats a nightmare to fix. i need to order this tonight so it gets here by friday when my parts arrive.

something easy to install so i dont break anything

under 30 dollars if possible because i spent all my money on the gpu

actually helps with the heat because i live in a tiny apartment in florida and it gets so hot in here

works with an msi pro motherboard

is the cheap thermalright one safe or is it gonna ruin my warranty or something? i keep reading conflicting stuff and my head is spinning... i just want to make sure my pc doesnt melt when i try to play games this weekend. what do you guys think i should get?

What are the absolute must-have MagSafe accessories that I actually need to get for my new phone? I just switched over to an iPhone 15 last week after being an Android user for basically my whole life and I am honestly so lost with this whole magnet situation on the back of the phone. I see that little circle on all the cases in the store but I dont really get what it actually does besides charging? Like is it just for a wireless charger or are there other things that actually make life easier because I feel like I'm missing out on half the features I paid for lol.

I'm mostly looking for stuff that is practical because I commute about an hour each way on the train here in Chicago and my hands always get tired holding the phone up to watch videos or read. Is there a grip or something that doesnt involve sticking permanent glue to the back of my nice new phone? I saw something called a PopSocket but I think those use stickers usually? I really dont want to ruin the finish. Also I keep seeing people with those tiny wallets stuck to the back and it looks cool but does it actually stay on? I'm terrified of my credit cards just falling off while I'm walking to the station and me not noticing until I'm already at work.

My budget is probably around 100 or 150 bucks to get a few starter things but I have no idea where to start or if I need to buy a specific brand. Do I have to buy everything from Apple or do the cheap ones on Amazon work just as well? I dont want to fry my battery using a knockoff magnet thing if thats even a possibility. Sorry if these are really basic questions I just feel like a total boomer trying to figure this out even though I'm only 30. If anyone has like a top three list of things they actually use every single day that would be amazing... I just want to make sure I'm getting stuff that actually sticks well and wont just fall off in my bag or something.

I did some digging and saw everyone talking about those paper-feel screen protectors for drawing but then a bunch of reviews say they ruin the screen clarity and eat through pen tips... so thats a bit scary.

Does anyone actually know a universal stylus that works for drawing on both an older iPad and a Samsung tablet without lagging like crazy?

I'm honestly so fed up with these cheap knockoffs from Amazon that claim to be universal but they're basically just glorified rubber fingers. I've wasted like eighty bucks this month alone and I'm ready to just throw my tablets out the window. I really need to finish some digital character commissions for a local craft fair this weekend and my main pen just snapped in half. Is there anything under $60 that actually has decent precision? I don't need fancy features just something that doesn't skip lines every five seconds...

I am honestly so over these proprietary wireless connections it is driving me insane. I have both a PS5 and an Xbox Series X hooked up to my OLED in the living room and my wife is literally gonna kill me if I get one more cable running across the rug. I just want one high-quality headset that I can swap between both without losing my mind or needing a degree in electrical engineering. My setup is a bit cramped and I really need to declutter before I lose it.

My logic was to just grab the best thing available so I looked at the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. I read that the Xbox version actually works on everything because of the way the USB ports are configured but then I saw a YouTube review saying the chat mix does isnt working right on PS5 if you use the Xbox base station? Or maybe it was the other way around? This is exactly where I get stuck. If I spend $350—which is my absolute limit because I am tired of buying cheap crap that snaps in six months—I want it to be perfect. I am in Chicago and hoping to just go to a Best Buy this weekend and be done with it.

I also checked out a few others:

The Astro A50s but apparently you need two different base stations which is a total dealbreaker for me.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX which claims to be universal.

The Turtle Beach one looks okay I guess but I have heard the build quality is kinda plastic-y and I really want something that feels premium for that price point. Every time I think I have a winner I read some forum comment saying actually the mic quality sucks on the Series X or the PS5 3D audio is muffled. Is there actually a best one that doesnt involve some weird workaround or compromising on the features for one side? I just want to plug a dongle in or hit a switch and have it work. Like why is Microsoft making this so difficult with their security chips anyway? It is making me want to just go back to wired but I really need the wireless freedom for when I am sitting back on the couch...

So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my main editing rig to a 7950X for my freelance business. Ive been building my own machines for over a decade now but these new AM5 chips are honestly throwing me for a loop with how they behave. My logic was that my older 240mm AIO would be fine but man, as soon as I start a heavy render it just pegs at 95C and stays there. I know thats technically by design according to AMD but it still makes me nervous as hell watching those numbers.

I need to swap it out for something beefier by next weekend before my next big project starts. I was looking at the Arctic Liquid Freezer III since people rave about that offset mounting bracket for Ryzen but I heard it has some weird clearance issues with VRM heatsinks on some of the newer boards. Anyone tried it on an ASUS X670E specifically? I also checked out the DeepCool LT720 but then there was all that drama so now Im second guessing everything.

Im in the US so I can grab stuff from Amazon or Micro Center pretty quick. Budget is around 150-180 bucks. Im mostly worried about sustained thermal performance for 4K exports rather than just gaming spikes. Is a 360mm actually enough to keep these things from throttling or do I really need to try and cram a 420mm into my case...
