With the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 turned off, press and hold the HOME + VOLUME UP button, and then briefly press the POWER button for a few seconds, but keep pressing the other buttons until the recovery menu comes up. In recovery menu select wipe data / Factory reset using Volume down button and confirm with power key.
Repeat it on the next screen, highlight Yes -- delete all user data using the Volume down and confirm the deletion using the power key. All data will be lost!
