Using the phone's hw keys (charge the battery before or connect charger or USB cable)

1. With the phone turned off, press and hold both Volume UP + HOME + Power on the phone.
2. Release power but keep pressing the HOME + VOLUME UP keys until the recovery menu comes up.
3. Use the Volume key to highlight wipe data / factory reset and press power shortly.
4. Repeat it and highlight Yes -- delete all user data.
5. Confirm using the power key and wait until the phone wipes out all data including your password or unlock pattern.
All data will be lost!
6. After all is done select Reboot system now and press power. The phone will boot normally.

Factory data reset: Reset settings to the factory default values and delete all data.

Your Samsung Galaxy Fame freezes or has fatal errors
If your device freezes or hangs, you may need to close programs or reset the device to regain  functionality. If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Power button for  8-10 seconds. The device reboots automatically.
If this does not solve the problem, perform a factory data reset. On the Applications screen, tap Settings  -  Backup and reset - Factory data reset - Reset device - Erase everything.

If you are want to update your Galaxy Fame's firmware, then you have to put your phone in download mode, connect the phone to your PC / laptop using a USB cable and start a firmware update tool like Samsung KIES or ODIN.
To put the phone in firmware download mode press and hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER keys at the same time until "Downloading... Do not turn off target" appears on the screen.

Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
