Using the LG v500 Hard Reset (Factory Reset)
If your tablet does not restore to its original condition, use a Hard Reset (Factory Reset) to initialize it.

  1. Turn off Optimus G PAD 8.3. Turn the tablet off.
  2. Press and hold the Power/Lock Key + Volume Down Key on the right side of the tablet.
  3. Release only the Power/Lock Key when the LG logo is displayed and keep pressing the Volume Down Key
  4. Immediately press and hold the Power/Lock Key + Volume Up Key at the same time while maintaining the Volume Down Key pressed.
  5. Release all keys when the Factory hard reset screen is displayed.
  6. Press the Power/Lock Key to continue or either of the Volume Keys to cancel.
  7. Press the Power/Lock Key once more to confirm or either of the Volume Keys to cancel.
Your LG V500 tablet device will perform a hard reset.

WARNING
If you perform a Hard Reset, all user applications, user data and DRM licenses will be deleted. Please remember to backup any important data
before performing a Hard Reset.

When the screen freezes
If the screen freezes or the tablet does not respond when you try to operate it: Press and hold the Power/Lock Key for 8 seconds to restart your tablet.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Apps.
  2. Touch Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory data reset.
  3. Read the warning and touch Reset tablet.
  4. Touch Erase everything.

    Attention:
    If a factory reset is performed, all installed application and user data will be erased. Please remember to back up any
    important data before performing a factory reset.

Go to Apps > Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory data reset – Erases all of your personal data from internal device storage, including information
about your Google account, any other accounts, your system and application data and settings, and any
downloaded applications. If you reset the device in this way, you’re prompted to reenter the same kind of
information as when you first started your tablet.
Tip: Make sure you backup any important data before performing this function.

General advice: Before you buy a new cell phone or new tablet, please try the following procedure to repair your device in a software way. First charge your battery, backup your important data if possible and in most cases take out SIM and SD card before doing factory reset. It is impossible to recover your data after doing a hard reset, so online backup is always important. For all of your data, a backup should be done on an external device, hard drive, raid system or media. With or without insurance, if your cell phone lost, damaged or stolen at least your invaluable data is backed up in a safe place. If you are about to sell your phone and you want to wipe your personal data, or if your phone affected with virus you have to do a hard reset. In some cases, you can delete the forgotten password or lock pattern from your device as well. All information is for devices with stock based ROMs. If you are using rooted device, always back up your EFS folder first, containing your IMEI info, etc.! Please also note, that a hard reset operation will not unlock your mobile phone's SIM lock or network lock, but it will remove the unlock pattern, remove the user password or PIN password (NOT the SIM card's 4 digit PIN code). Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
