Restarting your HTC S740 Phone - Soft reset

Restart your phone when a program is not performing properly or the phone is not responding to any keypresses.

To restart the phone

1. Remove the battery.
2. Wait for three seconds, then reinsert the battery and turn on your phone.

WARNING! If the phone is restarted while a program is running, any unsaved work will be lost.

HTC S740 Phone - Hard reset Resetting your phone will remove all the data from its memory and restore the phone back to the factory default settings.

Note If Encrypt files placed on storage cards is or was enabled before, then backup all files from the storage card before using Clear Storage or updating the ROM system software. Otherwise you will no longer be able to access the encrypted files on the storage card. Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to
the storage card.

WARNING! Because all your data will be deleted, it is recommended that you back up your data first before resetting your phone.

To reset your HTC Rose S740 phone

1. Click Start > Expert > Clear Storage.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the phone. The phone will restart after it has been reset.

Resetting your phone will remove all the data from its memory and restore the device back to the factory default settings. Go to Start > All Programs > More > Accessories > Clear Storage and input "1234".

Hard reset using buttons / keys when the HTC S740 is turned off by holding down the VOLUME DOWN and the CENTER OK buttons at the same time and then quickly pressing and releasing the POWER button without releasing the VOLUME DOWN and the CENTER OK buttons. Once you see a message appear follow the onscreen instructions.

All information is for devices with stock based ROMs. If you are using rooted device, always back up your EFS folder first, containing your IMEI info, etc.! Please also note, that a hard reset operation will not unlock your mobile phone's SIM lock or network lock, but it will remove the unlock pattern, remove the user password or PIN password (NOT the SIM card's 4 digit PIN code). Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
