Gigabyte GSmart Essence 4 hard reset

Remove forgotten password and unlock pattern using the Gsmart Recovery menu. Gsmart Essence4 recovery solution

  1. Fully charge the battery and turn off the device.
  2. Turn ON the device by pressing the power key for one second and then immidiately press the VOLUME UP key and the power key together.
  3. When Gsmart logo shows on the screen release all keys. An android robot lying on its back will appear.
  4. Press volum UP, the Android system recovery menu shows up.
  5. Highlight wipe data/Factory reset using volume up key.
  6. Confirm with Volume DOWN or Cancel using BACK key. Note: if power key not working use Volume DOWN for next step.
  7. Select Yes -- delete all data and confirm using power or Volume down key.
  8. After hard reset is done, highlight reboot system now and confirm your selection.

Note! All data will be deleted!
(In the menu use Volume down or power key to confirm) Be sure to backup your user data before doing a hard reset.

Resetting Your Gigabyte GSmart Essence 4 Android Phone using menu option

With Clean Boot, you can reset your phone to its factory defaults. When you reset your phone, the data stored in your phone may be erased.
1. Tap Application Drawer > APPS tab > Settings > Backup & reset.
2. Tap Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything to reset the phone

Reset Gigabyte GSmart Essence 4 using firmware update / ROM upgrade Pin unlock password

Before you upgrade or reinstall your phone's firmware, download the latest software for your phone Gigabyte GSmart Essence 4
Download (GSmart Essence 4_V1.069.09 or later) "GBC_update.zip" firmware file from Gigabyte official website and copy "GBC_update.zip"  the zipped file to SD card's root directory.

User data will be erased after ROM update. Make sure to back up data first.

  1. Copy "GBC_update.zip" to microSD card root directory. GBC_update.zip gigabyte update zip
  2. Fully charge the battery. Insert microSD card and turn off the device.
  3. "Power on" the phone press power key for one sec. then press both power and "Volume up" key together. Once GSmart logo shows on the screen, please immediately release both "Power on" key and "Volume down" key. It will take few seconds to get into recovery screen.
  4. Press "Volume down" key to select apply update from sdcard.
  5. Press "Volume up" key to select GBC_update.zip and press "Volume down" key to confirm.
  6. The device will automatically update the ROM. The screen will show the process status for few minutes.  Do not perform any operations while updating the ROM.
  7. After upgrading finished, the device will automatically reboot.
  8. Go to "Settings" > "Backup & reset" > "Factory data reset" > "Reset phone" > "Erase Everything" to end firmware update . Make sure to back up all your data before doing firmware update or hard reset operation.

General advice: Before you buy a new cell phone or new tablet, please try the following procedure to repair your device in a software way. First charge your battery, backup your important data if possible and in most cases take out SIM and SD card before doing factory reset. It is impossible to recover your data after doing a hard reset, so online backup is always important. For all of your data, a backup should be done on an external device, hard drive, raid system or media. With or without insurance, if your cell phone lost, damaged or stolen at least your invaluable data is backed up in a safe place. If you are about to sell your phone and you want to wipe your personal data, or if your phone affected with virus you have to do a hard reset. In some cases, you can delete the forgotten password or lock pattern from your device as well. All information is for devices with stock based ROMs. If you are using rooted device, always back up your EFS folder first, containing your IMEI info, etc.! Please also note, that a hard reset operation will not unlock your mobile phone's SIM lock or network lock, but it will remove the unlock pattern, remove the user password or PIN password (NOT the SIM card's 4 digit PIN code). Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
