If you can't reset your device normally, you can do what's called a "hard reset."

    1. Make sure your device is off. If you can't turn it off normally, remove and then replace the battery.
    2. Hold down the power, volume up and home button all at the same time until you see the reset screen.
    3. Press the volume up to continue resetting your device.

Use Factory data reset and the upgrade tool to perform phone formatting or software upgrading (to reset factory data, hold down the
Power key and the Volume up key at the same time).
All user data, files and downloaded applications will be lost permanently.
1. Make sure your device is off.
2. Press the Volume up key and the power key at same time until the Alcatel One Touch screen lights up.
3. Release POWER, but keep pressing the VOLUME UP key until the RECOVERY menu appears on the screen.

1. In the Recovery menu use Use the Volume down key to navigate to wipe data/factory reset.
2. Press the Power button to select this option.
3. Press Volume down to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data".
Confirm wipe off all user data? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE.
4. Press Power button to select.
The phone will reset.

Warning: Resetting your device will delete all your data, like apps, contacts, email, messages, calendars and settings. It will restore your device to the state it was in when you first purchased it. Use this step as a last resort.

    Open the Settings app GEAR icon on your device.
    Scroll down to the Device section and select Device information.
    On the Device information screen, tap More Information.
    Tap the Reset phone button and then OK.

Force reset / restart your phone by pressing and holding the power key.
If your phone has not responded for several minutes, Restart your phone by pressing and holding the Power key.
Quickly restarting can fix many issues.

To restart your Firefox OS device, press and hold the power button and then select Restart Phone from the menu.

If your device does not respond and you can't restart it, try a hard restart.

Remove the device's battery cover.
Remove and then replace the battery.
Put the battery cover back on.
Hold the power button to turn the device on.

How to check for updates

Here's how to manually check for system and app updates:
Note: Your device manufacturer, together with your service provider, is responsible for providing Firefox OS system updates to you.

    Open the Settings app on your device.
    Scroll down to the Device section and select Device information.
    On the Device information screen, go down to the Software updates section and tap Check now.
If an update is available, then pull down the notification tray from the top of the screen. After the update downloaded tap on the Install now button and wait for the restart.

Tip: To take screenshots on Firefox OS just Press and hold the home button and power button at the same time.
Note: You need a microSD memory card inserted in the phone.

General advice: Before you buy a new cell phone or new tablet, please try the following procedure to repair your device in a software way. First charge your battery, backup your important data if possible and in most cases take out SIM and SD card before doing factory reset. It is impossible to recover your data after doing a hard reset, so online backup is always important. For all of your data, a backup should be done on an external device, hard drive, raid system or media. With or without insurance, if your cell phone lost, damaged or stolen at least your invaluable data is backed up in a safe place. If you are about to sell your phone and you want to wipe your personal data, or if your phone affected with virus you have to do a hard reset. In some cases, you can delete the forgotten password or lock pattern from your device as well. All information is for devices with stock based ROMs. If you are using rooted device, always back up your EFS folder first, containing your IMEI info, etc.! Please also note, that a hard reset operation will not unlock your mobile phone's SIM lock or network lock, but it will remove the unlock pattern, remove the user password or PIN password (NOT the SIM card's 4 digit PIN code). Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
