Alcatel D820X HERO8 hard reset

When you are unable to power on your Alcatel One Touch D820X HERO8 tablet, there is a way to perform a factory data reset using the phone buttons. Press the Volume up key and the Power key simultaneously until the screen lights up. ALL User phone data: contacts, photos, messages, files and downloaded applications will be lost permanently. Please do not remove battery during resetting.

To activate factory data reset:

1. Touch Gear icon on Quick setting panel to get to Settings.
2. Touch Backup and reset>Factory data reset
3. Touch Reset tablet>Erase everything

Phone reset will erase all of your personal data from internal phone storage, including information about your Google Account, any other
accounts, your system and application settings, and any downloaded applications. If you need to keep the content in your phone storage,
please mark "Reserve the content of tablet storage".

RESET is to set your mobile phone into the factory state, the same state as when it comes out from factory, when you have bought the phone.
After phone reset all personal data added by you will be lost (this does not effect SIM card), which includes: images, audio, video files, downloaded applications and games and WAP bookmark etc.

Alcatel HERO8 soft reset / restart your tablet

Press and hold the Power key about 3 seconds until the options appear, select "Restart" to restart your device.
When your device is out of function, freezing or become sluggish, unresponsive press and hold the Power key about 10 seconds to restart your device

Alcatel D820X HERO8 Factory reset

Use Factory data reset  and the upgrade tool to perform device formatting or software upgrading (to reset factory data, hold down the power key and the Volume up  key at the same time). ALL User device data: contacts, photos, messages and files, downloaded applications will be lost permanently. It is strongly advised to fully backup the device data and profile via Smart Suite before doing formatting and upgrading. Please, carry out the following checks:
Alcatel Hero 8 tablet cannot be switched on or is frozen  
When the device cannot be switched on, charge for at least 20 minutes to ensure the minimum battery power needed, then try to switch on again.  When the device falls into a loop during power on-off animation and the user interface cannot be accessed, press and hold the Volume down key to enter Safe Mode.  This eliminates any abnormal OS booting issues caused by 3rd party APKs.  If neither method is effective, please reset the device using the Power key and the Volume up key, (holding both together).

Restart your device by pressing and holding the Power key.

Check that your screen is locked when you are not using your device, and make sure the Power key is not accidentally contacted while the screen is unlocked.  Check the battery charge level.

Make sure that your battery is not completely discharged; if the battery power is empty for a long time, it may take around 20 minutes to display the battery charger indicator on the screen.

If you want to update the system, please touch the button Download, after it's done please touch Install to complete the upgrade. Now your phone's software will have the latest version.

Make sure you have downloaded the right driver for your phone. Also make sure If your phone is MTK platform or Qulacomm. Install the corrcet Alcatel Android driver for your Android phone.

Data backup
 
This device enables you to back up your device’s settings and other application data to Google Servers, with your Google Account.
If  you  replace  your  device,  the  settings  and  data  you’ve  backed  up  are  restored  onto  the  new  device  the  first  time  you  sign  in  with  your  Google Account.
To activate this function:
Touch on Quick setting panel to get to Settings.

Once activated, a wide variety of settings and data are backed up, including your Wi-Fi passwords, bookmarks, a list of the applications you’ve installed, the words you’ve added to the dictionary used by the onscreen keyboard, and most of the settings configured within  the Settings application. If you deactivated this option, settings are no longer backed up, and any existing backups are deleted from Google Servers.

General advice: Before you buy a new cell phone or new tablet, please try the following procedure to repair your device in a software way. First charge your battery, backup your important data if possible and in most cases take out SIM and SD card before doing factory reset. It is impossible to recover your data after doing a hard reset, so online backup is always important. For all of your data, a backup should be done on an external device, hard drive, raid system or media. With or without insurance, if your cell phone lost, damaged or stolen at least your invaluable data is backed up in a safe place. If you are about to sell your phone and you want to wipe your personal data, or if your phone affected with virus you have to do a hard reset. In some cases, you can delete the forgotten password or lock pattern from your device as well. All information is for devices with stock based ROMs. If you are using rooted device, always back up your EFS folder first, containing your IMEI info, etc.! Please also note, that a hard reset operation will not unlock your mobile phone's SIM lock or network lock, but it will remove the unlock pattern, remove the user password or PIN password (NOT the SIM card's 4 digit PIN code). Also note that the firmware version will not be affected in any way, it will not be downgraded, it will remain the same you are using and if you have rooted your device, root privileges remain also unaffected.
